Frequently Asked Questions
Here you'll find answers to some of the things I get asked the most — from what to expect at your appointment to the nitty-gritty on treatments. And if you’re still unsure about something, just drop me a message — I’m always happy to answer any quesstions or concerns you may have.
How does laser tattoo removal work?
Laser tattoo removal works by breaking down the ink particles in your skin using light energy. The body then naturally clears these smaller particles over time. Multiple sessions are needed to fade or remove the tattoo fully, depending on the ink colour, depth, and age of the tattoo.
Will it leave a scar?
Laser tattoo removal is designed to target the ink, not the skin — so scarring is very rare, especially when proper aftercare is followed. That said, if the tattoo was heavily scarred from the original inking or has underlying skin issues, this may effect your result.
How many sessions will I need?
This really depends on the tattoo itself! Most people need 6–12 sessions, spaced 8-10 weeks apart, but it could be more or fewer depending on factors like the ink colour, how deep the ink is, how old the tattoo is, and how your body responds to the treatment.
Can you remove all ink colours?
Dark inks like black, dark blue and dark green tend to respond best to laser. Lighter colours like yellow, red, and white are more stubborn and may not fully fade — but we’ll always be honest with you about what’s realistic for your specific tattoo.
Does it hurt?
Let’s be honest — it’s not pain-free, but most people say it’s very quick and totally manageable. Think of it like the snap of a rubber band with a bit of heat. I also use ice packs to make it as comfortable as possible. (It’s usually less painful than getting the tattoo in the first place!)
What's the aftercare like?
After each session, the area might feel warm, look red, or swell slightly — kind of like a sunburn. You’ll need to keep the area clean and dry, avoid heat, sweat, and sun exposure, and follow the detailed aftercare guidance I give you. Trust me, good aftercare makes all the difference!
